🗣️ Feature: Talk Like a Pirate Day
Every September 19th, the world grows a little saltier as mates everywhere embrace International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

The tradition began back in 1995, when two lads, John Baur and Mark Summers, slipped into pirate lingo during a racquetball match. They thought it grand fun, but the world didn’t know of it until 2002, when humor columnist Dave Barry gave the day his blessing in print. From there, it spread faster than rum at a tavern.
Today, folk across the globe celebrate with pirate-speak, costume parties, pub crawls, and charitable mischief. And here at The Pirate Republic, we be honorin’ it with a hearty phrasebook to keep yer tongue sharp.

🌍 This Month in Modern Piracy
Strange, isn’t it? With all these rogues prowlin’ the seas, not a single one bothered to talk like a pirate… perhaps they’d rather fire rifles than shout “Avast!”
Here be the latest sightings of the black flag in our own century:
Bay of Campeche, Mexico – August 18Armed robbers stormed an oil platform 58 nautical miles northwest of Ciudad del Carmen. They fired shots into the air to cow the crew, then made off with self-contained breathing gear. No one was harmed — but the boldness be enough to chill a sailor’s blood.
🌊 Red Sea – August 31The Liberian-flagged tanker Scarlet Ray came under attack 40 nautical miles southwest of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. The vessel escaped without damage, and the crew lived to tell the tale. But the Red Sea remains a restless hunting ground.
Sepangar Bay, Malaysia – September 9A would-be thief slipped aboard a Malaysian tanker under cover of night. Spotted by the watch, he leapt back into the sea and fled with an accomplice in a small boat. Nothing stolen this time — but the waters still swarm with shadows.
⚓ These be no gallant buccaneers of old — just armed thieves, skulkin’ in the dark and preyin’ on easy marks.

💰 Plunder Pick of the Week
This week’s treasure be a ship so fine ye can build it plank by plank!

🦜 Magic in the details:
